I adore Vegan Folie's and have probably visited this all-vegan cupcake eatery more than anything else in my past two months in Paris. The owner is friendly, the sweets are consistently delicious, and the flavors are truly unique. Follow their (French) blog to ogle the cupcake du jour, which always features new and unusual pairings/flavors. Today's was "Matcha Cherry" to give you an idea. The tantalizing window display on Rue Mouffetard. It made me squirm with pleasure to witness many a French person stop to gaze at the deliciousness, not knowing (or caring) it was all vegan . Vanilla Berry Cheesecake. Were it not 5 euro a slice I'd have bought some. The "Choc. Norris" , which heavily suffered from end-of-the-day dryness Brownie with hazelnuts- an inspired inclusion, let me attest The wonderfully-named "John Lemon": lemon cake & frosting, filled and topped with (seriously spicy) candied ginger The cupcake du jour, Chocolate Chip Cookie. How tragic that I can never taste such a ridiculously indulgent morsel again. And that cookie on top? It not only had chocolate chips, but was filled with a sheet of pure (vegan) milk chocolate. I still think about it fondly. More Paris photos, many of them vegan-related, on my travel tumblr.

It's referring to a cupcake where it says 'falafel & homous' in the bottom left corner of the first pic, right?
Because that's GENIUS.
Austin Flower also sounds pretty good.

I can't believe how vegan friendly Paris has gotten in such a short time. I lived there 10 years ago and could barely find vegetarian options.
That cookie cupcake looks ridiculously good.

Yes, I need to know more about this! Lovely. I too am intrigued, but also scared. I love both falafel and hummus... but in cupcake form? Maybe I'm just a traditionalist, but to me anything in a savory direction seems more muffin than cupcake. I'll try it and report back.

That cookie cupcake looks ridiculously good. Yes, there is definitely a burgeoning veg scene now, but of course the average Parisian eatery still woefully lacks good vegan options. I assume you know what I'm talking about. It's come to a point where I won't waste money on going out unless it's a veg-friendly restaurant; no point spending 12 euro for a plate of penne with a bit of marinara on top.

I. Was. In. Paris. On. Monday. And. They. Are. Closed. On. Monday.
These pictures make me cry a little. So delicious. So out of reach.

Paloma, you will just have to visit again! And we'll meet up and stuff our faces with cake and frosting obnoxiously in the streets.

Well, I know a new place to visit when I am next in Paris!
Also, the names! 'Johnny Nutsville'! Cute.

I've been to Paris twice in recent years and can't believe I never went to this place. Between this and La's du Fallafel, I might just make a food trip there.

It's nice to know that people appreciate my efforts, as I usually spend inordinately more time editing the captions than the photos. pickledtreats wrote: I've been to Paris twice in recent years and can't believe I never went to this place. And Vegan Folie's just opened recently, so it probably didn't exist during your last visits. eatsbabies wrote: That cookie cupcake is the stuff of legends. True dat. And I have so much love for your username!
